Editorial
Welcome to the nineteenth issue of Baffling Magazine.
This issue is unthemed and has seven offerings—all from authors new to Baffling.
We open and close with two stories themed around conversations with digital personae (Teresa Milbrodt’s “Conversations with You” and Soramimi Hanarejima’s “Versioning”). In between, we have a chilling art exhibition that calls to mind Clive Barker (“Oksana B’s Nightmare Avenue: Dead Man’s Wish” from C. L. Sidell), a corporate wellness brochure that takes a dark turn (Erin Brown’s impeccable “Luscious Lake”), a set of bitter-but-hopeful instructions on crime (Plangdi Neple’s “How to Rob a Bullion Van”), and a melancholy and mythopoetic winter hymn (Sara Omer’s “Until the Frost Thaws”). Not to mention our surreal and moving cover story, (Cindy Phan’s “Ron, Howard”) which inspired the rad illustration is by Casper Pham.
If you like our stories, we’d be grateful if you supported us at our Patreon. Every dollar there goes directly to paying Baffling writers and maybe someday even our editors. Our initial tier is just $3/month, and joining allows us to continue pay SFWA pro-rates to those we publish.
Enjoy the issue!
